Etusivu > Hankkeet > Sustainable Arctic and Peripherial Biking Tourism (SUB) 2023-2026

Tourism is a key industry in arctic and sparsely populated areas. Bicycle tourism, in particular, is a growing trend that also offers opportunities for the development of year-round tourism. The SUB project aims to enhance the expertise of various stakeholders in sustainable bicycle tourism, considering the entire service chain for travelers in the destination.

The project activities are built around three work packages:

  1. Transnational model for sharing best practices for cycling tourism development
  2. Enhancing stakeholders’ expertise in sustainable bicycle tourism development
  3. Networks and clusters supporting the growth of the sustainable bicycle tourism market share

Through the project, the sectoral expertise of micro and small to medium-sized enterprises will grow through the sharing of best practices and peer learning, and stakeholders will network both internationally and regionally.

The consortium includes the Natural Resources Institute Finland (Luke), the Federation of Regional Authorities NW Iceland, Visit Torshavn (Faroe Islands), Jämtland Härjedalen Tourism (Sweden), and Donegal County Council (Northern Ireland).
